Erin Townsend is the Secondary Curriculum Director at Nevada R-5 in Nevada, Missouri.  This is her first year in this role but previously taught American History at both Nevada Middle and Nevada High School for 11 years before serving as an instructional coach for the last four. She holds a Bachelor of Education in Middle School Education and a Master of Education in Teacher Leadership from Northwest Missouri State University and a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University.  She’s had some wonderful opportunities to travel and learn through Teach American History Grants, Gilder-Lehrman, National Endowment for the Humanities, and most recently with the Korean War Digital Legacy Foundation.  When she’s not in her classroom, you will find her coaching middle school volleyball, or announcing numerous high school sporting events at NHS.  She’s blessed with the best family in the world including her husband Bryan who indulges her love of all things history and travel whenever they can.  Her heart has always lived in the Social Studies world and she is humbled and honored to serve her fellow educators as a member of the MCSS board!
