Tina Shaginaw teaches World Geography, Honors World Geography, and a Guided Program of Studies (GPS) Course at Lafayette High School in St. Joseph. She serves on the Climate Committee, PLC Team, Literacy Committee, and serves for the Irish Pantry which provides food for students and their families in the building. In addition to this, she has actively been involved in Curriculum writing for the district.
Tina not only teaches at the public high school, but for the past 9 years, she has worked with the United Way and a grant provided by AT&T to fund the GPS program which is a program designed to target students that face barriers to graduation. These students are selected at the middle school prior to entering high school and she works with them for the four years on developing life skills and tools necessary to be successful.
Tina graduated from Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, MO, and earned a Masters of Education from Baker University. She has served on the MCSS board for six years and is also an MCSS member, and conference presenter. Tina Shaginaw was also the 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year for the St. Joseph School District.
Tina resides in St. Joseph, MO with her husband, Rick. They have two children, Justin (and wife Chelsea) and Jacklyn (and husband Nathan) and 5 amazing grandchildren.
