Rhett Oldham
DESE Liaison

Dr. Rhett Oldham is the Director of Social Studies Curriculum at DESE and is excited to return to the MCSS. Dr. Oldham has previously served on the MCSS Board as 63 Delegate, Vice President of Membership, and President and truly believes in the mission of MCSS. Rhett recently retired from Ste. Genevieve Middle School as a World History and American History teacher. He is also a Fulbright TGC (Morocco) Fellow, Gilder Lehrman Missouri History Teacher of the Year and National Finalist, a Missouri Teacher of the Year Finalist, and a White House Historical Institute Fellow. Rhett is also a presenter for the Bureau of Educational Resources and the moderator of the Transatlantic Educator Dialogue where teachers from Europe and the United States collaborate. In his free time, he is a massive Manchester United supporter and St. Louis City season ticket holder. His wife, Shelley, and Rhett enjoy traveling to historic locations in the United States and Europe. He is also a Season ticket holder at the St. Louis Symphony, St. Louis Art Museum member, longtime patron of Jazz at the Bistro, and whether it is the Fox, Sheldon, Peabody, or a small venue, he enjoys going to the theater.
