
Michael Holmes, President-Elect

Michael is a passionate educator entering his fourth year of teaching with Saint Louis Public Schools, where he teaches 3rd grade with a cross-curricular focus on mathematics and social studies. His classroom emphasizes learning through play, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and joy in young learners. Michael earned his BA in English from Truman State, and his M.Ed in Adult and Higher Education from University of Missouri Saint Louis.

As President-Elect of the Missouri Council for the Social Studies, Michael is committed to broadening access, amplifying diverse voices, and engaging educators across all levels—especially those in elementary and pre-service teaching. His work reflects a belief that social studies is not only foundational but transformative when taught with purpose and heart.
