Tricia Hinton is an experienced teacher with a 23-year tenure in public education. She is currently the Middle School Social Science teacher at Highland High School in the Lewis County C-1 School District located in Lewistown, Missouri. She received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education at Hannibal-LaGrange College in Hannibal, Missouri. She later completed her Masters Degree in Special Education at Northwest Missouri State University located in Maryville, Missouri.
For the majority of her teaching journey, Hinton served as a 4th-grade eMINTS teacher, leveraging innovative technology and inquiry-based learning approaches to engage students. Tricia also spent a year as a K-6 cross-categorical special education teacher, providing support and tailored instruction to students with diverse learning needs.
Throughout her career, Tricia has demonstrated her commitment to the educational community through various leadership and committee roles. As a technology leader, she championed technology integration and promoted digital literacy. As the Community Teachers Association President, she advocates for teachers' rights and professional development. Furthermore, Tricia has assumed positions of responsibility such as Curriculum and Team Leader and Robotics Team Sponsor. As the Student Assistance Team Leader, she has played a role in supporting students by providing interventions when needed. She is currently serving as the History Club Sponsor.
Hinton’s dedication to education has been widely recognized. She is a recipient of numerous recognitions, including WGEM Golden Apple Award Nominee, 2019 Barringer Fellow, Missouri Advisory Committee for Education Certification Council Member 2023-2026, and most recently 2023 Northeast Missouri Regional Teacher of the Year.
